MBAMA

Relevant Experience

In addition to over three years of relevant work experience over 75% of all BYU MBA students also have 18 months to two years of volunteer experience where they learn leadership, teamwork, and effective communication. This volunteer experience is often performed internationally and contributes to the fact that nearly 70% of marketing students are bilingual.

During their first year all marketing students participate in a field study where they are able to tackle MBA level problems faced by companies that are leading the industry. Some sample field studies include:

CARDINAL HEALTH

  • Gauged market potential for Cardinal Health's CUBIE IL and addressed whether development efforts should continue to focus on a less complex and inexpensive CUBIE

COMCAST

  • Analyzed the customer experience to improve the self-installation process of the Motorola DCT700 All-Digital Set-Top receiver for Comcast cable subscribers

FEDERAL EXPRESS FREIGHT

  • Developed a study to analyze the implementation of a field marketing program within FedEx Freight's overall marketing structure

SAM'S CLUB

  • Evaluated the investment in a new market idea geared toward the Hispanic goods market by analyzing emerging Hispanic markets, potential customers, and market competitors
